Magali Lambert, visual artist and photographer

We are in Paris, in the heart of a winter that seems to have truly settled in. Night falls early, the outside temperature is almost unbearably hot, and all we dream of is a steaming cup of tea, a cozy blanket, and a crackling fire. It's the perfect moment to step into the cabinet of curiosities of Magali Lambert, a photographer who crafts images of bizarre beauty, imbued with a strange warmth, constantly flirting with life and death.

Neko Neko: Magali, what are your sources of inspiration? Do you have any film, music, book, or exhibition recommendations to share right now?
Magali: Right now, I'm listening to South American music from the 70s (Héctor Lavoe, Willie Colón, Celia Cruz). I'm rereading Annie Ernaux, and I've discovered Clara Dupont-Monod. I saw a sublime exhibition, "Things," at the Louvre, about the history of still life. Paterson, by Jim Jarmusch, is one of my favorite films.

Neko Neko: Is there a trip you've taken that particularly stood out for you?
Magali: I spent a month in New York a few years ago and met some very open and welcoming artists. I also spent a year in Madrid, which I now consider my second city.

Neko Neko: How would you describe your clothing style?

Magali: I have a neat and comfortable style. For my work, I need to be free to move around.

Neko Neko: Do you have a favorite room?

Magali: My earrings. I have a lot of them, all very different.

Neko Neko: What do you like about Neko Neko bags?
Magali: They are beautiful, elegant, practical and suitable for different types of outfits.

Neko Neko: If we open your bag, what will we find inside?
Magali: My phone, my keys (with a scoubidou keychain that was given to me by a workshop participant), my cigarettes, my papers, my wallet, my mask and gel, my transport card, a lipstick. I also have a small secret lucky charm.

Magali Lambert lives and works in Paris. She is represented by the agency and gallery Vu'. Want to discover her work? Here's what's coming up in the next few months:
- Group exhibition "Eblouissements" at the VU' gallery (Paris), from February 17 to March 24
- Solo exhibition "Hybridities" at the Museum Aquarium of Nancy, from April 15 to June 25
- Group exhibition "Dance with the Earth" as part of the Photographic Event
(Photo Festival, Nancy), from May 12 to June 4.
Far from resting on her laurels, Magali will be in residence for photographic research at La Capsule (Le Bourget), is working on the design of her next book with Hartpon publishers and will give workshops at the French Institute of Greece in Athens and at the CATTP, a day hospital in Drancy.
